The Night Ministry Housing Programs
Jim Mabie serves as chairman of Chicago Capital, LLC, a Registered Investment Advisor. For his charitable work in Chicago, Illinois, Jim Mabie received the 2006 Lamp Lighter award from The Night Ministry, a local charitable organization which provides residents of the greater Chicago area with support in the areas of homelessness and poverty.
The Night Ministry's housing services have four core pillars: youth engagement, early intervention, supportive services, and long-term residential services. These programs provide services tailored to specific groups.
Youth engagement initiatives build relationships with young people across Chicago. The Night Ministry Youth Outreach Team finds youth and young adults who are already homeless or at significant risk of homelessness, and provides referrals and resources as well as emergency shelter.
Early intervention takes place through the Response-Ability Pregnant and Parenting Program and the Interim Housing Program. These programs help young people who are pregnant and separated from their families either return home or find safe and appropriate housing along with any additional support they might need.
Long-term residential services come through Phoenix Hall and the STEPS Transitional Living Program, which supports those pursuing employment as well as encourages them to get a high school-equivalent education if they have not done so.
The Night Ministry's Supportive Services initiative provides young people with recreational activities and leadership development opportunities. These help these young people develop the skills and tools they need for adulthood.
